Crocheted Towel Topper with Holiday Variations

This is a buttonless towel topper that has different variations for the crocheted button part.
The picture shown is of the topper with the basic flower fastener(pattern at bottom of this page).

Materials:
1 kitchen towel(cut in half width wise)
2 oz worsted weight cotton yarn(enough for both halves of the towel)

Row 1: Fold over the edge 1/4 inch once and do 54 sc evenly spaced across edge. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 2: Dc in each sc across. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 3: Skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, repeat across(27). Ch 3 and turn.
Row 4: Dc in each sc across. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 5: Skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, repeat across(13). Ch 3 and turn.
Row 6: Dc in each sc across. Dc in the top of ch 3 of previous row. (14) Ch 3 and turn.
Row 7: Skip 1 dc, dc in next dc, repeat across(7). Ch 3 and turn.
Row 8: (Hole) Dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, skip next 3 dc, dc in next 2 dc and in top of ch 3 of previous row. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 9: Dc in each dc and ch across. (7) Ch 3 and turn.
Row 10 - 15: Dc in each dc across. Ch 3 and turn.
Row(Round) 16: Dc in each dc across and join with a sl st in top of the beginning of this round. This is now a round instead of a row.

From here on out the fastener can be changed to suit your fancy. Here is the basic flower fastener.
Round 17: Ch 4, *dc in 1st dc, ch 1, repeat around and join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. Ch 3 and turn this time only.
Round 18: *3 dc in ch 1 space, dc in top of next dc, repeat around and join with sl st in top of ch 3.
Round 19: Ch 1, sc in same st, *3 dc in next st, sc in next st, sl st in next st, sc in next st., repeat around ending with a sl st in top of ch 1at the beginning of this round. Fasten off and weave in ends.

The flower part now goes over the bar or handle of whatever you are hanging it from (front to back) and then pulled through the back of the hole to stick out of the front.

I'll be posting more fasteners for different seasons and holidays.
