Christmas Tree Fastener

Materials:
Size hook used in main pattern
Green and brown worsted weight cotton yarn(may also use acrylic)
Tiny assorted color pompoms(or may use just one color)
Ribbon bow or star
Aleene's "OK to Wash It" Fabric Glue(Dries clear and soft)

Work as done in main towel topper pattern. Then continue on in rounds.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 and turn, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, join with a sl st in top of ch 3.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 2 dc, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, repeat from * around, join as before.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, dc in next 2 dc, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, repeat from * around, ending with 2dc in next to last dc and 1 dc in last dc, join as before.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, *dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, repeat from * around, end with dc in last 2 dc, join as before. Fasten off.

Fold piece in half with the ch 3 seam going down the middle. You will now be working through both thicknesses as one. Sc in each st across(approximately 11 sc). Fasten off.

Trunk: With brown yarn, skip 4 sts, dc in the next 3, ch 3 and turn, dc in each dc across. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Glue on pompoms and bow or star on top. Let dry clear before using.
